Smoking might ultimately have the same purpose but it comes in different styles. Two of the most prominent fashions of smoking are cigarettes and cigars. These are the two oldest ways of tobacco-based smoking but vary in their physical and social aspects. We will consider various points that will help in differentiating both products. Tangibility It is not something very secretive or unknown as everyone who has seen cigarettes and cigars can easily distinguish between them. The size is what is notably different. Cigars are greatly thicker and bigger than a standard cigarette, whereas cigarettes are compact, rolled up bundles. Their structures are also wholly different from each other as cigars are altogether made of tobacco, even the filler portion of it has tobacco leaves. The covering of cigars is also formulated of an enormous tobacco leaf that holds the cigar together. A standard cigarette contains shredded tobacco leaves, stems and other related items rolled up in paper. Style of Smoking Similarly, there is also a difference in the manner both are created and smoked. A cigar needs to be smoked going through various steps whereas a cigarette is easy to bum by just taking it out of the box. Check for Best Cigar Boxes Let’s look at the steps we need to follow to light and enjoy a cigar. Firstly, you have to detach the cap with a cutter to make a path for the smoke to be inhaled. Unlike a cigarette that can be lit up instantly, a cigar has to be tenderly toasted by keeping the fire away from the tobacco rolled inside. Secondly, the way a cigar is smoked is entirely different from a regular cigarette. We inhale cigarettes whereas a cigar’s smoke must stay inside the mouth before exhaling. This is because the nicotine level in a cigar is significantly higher than a cigarette to be exhaled. Lastly, you must know that cigarettes support a filler whereas a cigar does not have it since no smoke is being inhaled totally. Also, cigars do not have any additives for which they do not require any filler. Divergence in Experience It has been observed that a cigarette contains around 10mg of nicotine as compared to a cigar which has 100 to 200mg of nicotine. Their sizes draw a line in smoking times as a cigar is giant and has more tobacco, so it takes more time than a cigarette which hardly takes 5 minutes to finish. A cigar, on the other hand, can take almost 60 minutes to be smoked entirely up. The major contrast between both is that people smoke cigarettes for the nicotine hit, whereas a cigar smoker lights one up to relax or smoke while carrying out other activities such as reading, hosting people or playing golf. These are the most significant differences between both, while the main content focuses on producing smoke. We would not enter into the debate of which is more harmful and what you should smoke, but whatever you bum, you will now know the disparity.
